π₯ππFood is Energy π₯¦ππ₯
As a certified health coach and Nature lover, I firmly believe that the right foods become "Food is thy medicine" and that we have the power to make a difference in our lives one bite at a time. This quote, often attributed to Hippocrates, holds a lot of truth. Our food choices profoundly impact our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
All of us are different, and there is no diet that fits all, but there are a few universal things we can all do to feel better and make a difference in our food choices, physically and energetically. It's time to regain control of our health and make the right choices for ourselves.
Take advantage of this. My exceptional guest on A Dose of Positivity this Thursday is Εlelo paΚ»a Faith Ogawa, known as The Energy Chef of Hawaii, who will be sharing delicious recipes and doable, enjoyable ways to transition to healthy food choices.
Many cultures around the world understand the importance of food as energy. Traditional diets from places like Japan, Greece, and Italy emphasize whole, unprocessed foods prepared with care and attention to flavor and nutrition. These cultures also value the ritual of eating together as a way to connect with loved ones and honor the food they are consuming.
So, how can we make positive changes to our diets and our health? The first step is to eliminate processed foods and drastically reduce or eliminate sugar, gluten, alcohol, unhealthy oils, and other unhealthy foods. Instead, focus on whole, organic, nutrient-dense foods that provide the energy and nourishment our bodies need to thrive.
Cooking at home doesn't have to be inconvenient, and it's much healthier than relying on fast food or takeout. Preparing our meals or having a holistic private chef is vital to prioritize healthy eating that gives us physical, mental, and spiritual energy.
When we put good energy into the food we prepare and eat, it does something to our body chemistry, allowing us to absorb our food better and feel better about ourselves. Become an "energy chef" by learning what foods give you energy and which ones rob you. Understanding how much energy it takes to get the food to your table, from the soil to your soul, can also help you make more informed choices.
If you are a parent, one of the best ways to help ensure your child has a happy and healthy life is to eat local and organic foods as early as possible. Educate them about the healing powers and spiritual benefits of quality foods that nourish them for the rest of their lives.
Organic Food Benefits: Why You Should Eat Organic
For starters, it is the right thing to do for your body and the planet. You will find an unlimited number of benefits when it comes to organic foods and their benefits. As a health coach and avid researcher, I've learned that gut health is essential to our overall well-being. What many people need to realize is that the health of our gut is closely linked to the health of the soil. When we rely on conventional farming methods, we strip the soil of essential nutrients and microorganisms vital to our health and the environment's health. Soils become contaminated when pesticides and other similar chemicals are used. Farmers who put pesticides in their fields and on their foods are putting consumers at risk and the environment at risk.
In contrast, organic farming methods prioritize soil health, which in turn supports gut microbiome health. By using organic farming methods, we can ensure that our food is nutrient-dense and free of harmful chemicals that can compromise our health.
Unfortunately, the industrial food complex prioritizes profit over the health of the soil and the people who rely on it. The earth's heart and soul are sacrificed for convenience and profit, which has devastating consequences for our health and the environment. It's time to prioritize organic farming methods and support sustainable agriculture practices that prioritize the soil and gut microbiome health.
Eating organic foods helps to promote lifelong health and happiness. Despite the fact that organic foods are NOT consumed by most Americans, they still come highly rated and recommended. With consumer demand, organic food production will rise.
By eating local and organic foods, you are helping protect the environment and strengthen your local economy.
Organic Foods and the Environmental and Economic Impacts
By purchasing local and organic foods, you can take comfort in knowing that you are helping many small to medium-sized farmers and organic food companies stay in business. You are also contributing to your local economy.
In keeping with the economy, many farmers are getting a second chance with organic foods. Now, it is costly to run a farm. In fact, that is why many farms are shutting down. Although some farmers are choosing to give up their operations, others are choosing to switch to organic foods. Although it takes a lot of hard work, determination, and a significant investment to switch to organic, many farmers are finding big payoffs. Many economists believe that switching to growing organic foods is the only way that many farms, especially those small in size, will survive. So encourage your local farms by supporting them any chance you get. Better yet, become one.
Fresh organic foods can help cleanse or detoxify your body from harmful chemicals. When you stop eating foods tainted with pesticides and other chemicals, your body will expel the current and remaining toxins from your body. This means that your body should be clean, chemical-free, and pesticide free after a specific period of time.
It's also important to recognize that food is sacred and medicine. Our ancestors knew this, but somewhere along the way, we lost that connection to our energy source. We owe it to ourselves and the planet to clean up the mess made in the past century. Let's honor the power of food by making it a priority in our lives and for future generations.
What actionable steps can you take to make a difference in your health right now? Here are a few ideas:
π Clean out your pantry and fridge of processed foods and unhealthy snacks. Replace them with whole foods like organic fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Before you put food in your shopping bag, ask yourself if this is good for me and the planet.
π Plan your meals for the week beforehand, and prepare as much as possible. This will save you time and make healthy eating more convenient.
π Experiment with new recipes and incorporate whole, unprocessed local foods into your diet. There are plenty of delicious, healthy meals out there!
π Practice mindful eating by paying attention to the flavors, textures, and sensations of your food. This can help you feel more satisfied and avoid overeating.
π Finally, be kind to yourself and remember that making positive changes takes time and effort. Celebrate small victories, and don't be too hard on yourself if you slip up. Every bite counts, and every healthy choice you make is a step in the right direction.
As you can see, universally, choosing local organic foods can impact your health, energy, the environment, and the economy positively. Besides, organic fresh local food tastes much better. So, if you haven't bought into this universal truth, are you ready to start making a difference one bite at a time? Remember, food is thy medicine, so let's start treating it that way! I believe in you and am here to support you on your journey to better health and wellness.
Healthy Food for All
By Donna Maltz
Food is medicine, food is energy
The fuel that powers us every day
The choices we make, they matter so much
Changing our world in every way
The energy we put into our food
It affects us more than we know
Our body, mind, and soul are all fed
By the nutrients that we sow
Healthy food is a human right
Everyone deserves to be well
We can save our soil, save the earth
By choosing what we eat to dwell
Food justice is what we seek
To heal ourselves and the land
Mother Earth and humanity
Walking hand in hand
Becoming food savvy is the key
To know what we eat and why
To cherish the food that fuels us
And to let our bodies thrive
Let's make a difference one bite at a time
To heal ourselves and our planet too
Food is the answer. Let's use it well.
For a better world, for you and me.
