Expanding Your Horizons and Possibilities At Any Age
Aloha Beautiful Souls đș,
Expanding your horizons at any age happens when you contemplate more possibilities. Itâs an integral part of boosting our immune systems. To be in a state of wonder rather than in a constant state of worry is a gift we can choose to give ourselves on a daily basis. And thereâs no time like the present. Receive it in the now.
As I grow older, I contemplate life more than expected. If you're older and (hopefully) feel wiser, you may feel disheartened you've spent so many years building up your business or your career, only to find yourself not in the financial bracket you had hoped. Maybe you're feeling overlooked in terms of new opportunities because younger people are coming up behind you who have faster computers and bigger social media followings.
If you are in business, it's important to keep pace with technology and stay relevant to the times. Still, it is also vital that you know your worthâyour self-worthâand make sure that your contributions and hard work are appreciated, no matter what the financial numbers say or the size of your email list. Looking beyond new-age, dogma-defining success, I wonder what the younger generations feel in these changing times. I wonder about many things, like how rainbows are formed, why the sea is salty, and I wonder what you think is important.
Lately, Iâve been spending more time alone, contemplating, as âThe Times They Are A-Changin." I wonder if people who appear happy on the outside are truly happy, and I wonder if those who appear somber might just be content. Deep in thought does not mean Iâm unhappy. On the contrary, I am content and find comfort in exploring what is possible while redefining my life. I'm freer to share what's truly on my mind. Maybe this comes with the grace of aging.
COVID has left many clients and friends trapped behind closed doors. To walk out that door, whether it's for a brisk walk, a stroll, or just to get away, we have that choice, (at least for most of us listening or reading these words). Doors are made of wood, metal, or glass, but sometimes they are just barriers to our imagination and barriers to our future. The questions to be asking are: Is the door locked? Can it be opened? Is it a jar? Is a door even there? It's up to us to decide to swing open the door and venture out or continue to stay trapped.
The best guidance I can give is to open that door and find a place where you can walk out into Nature, find a tree, listen to a babbling brook, play in the snow, watch a bird take flight. You get the idea - fill in the blank of what will help your spirit soar. If you must run, then run. Harvest fruit, touch the earth with your hands and feet. Smell the life of the soil.
To be in touch with Nature, we are in touch with our true Nature.
COVID is not going away, but our lives must continue. Unless the laws force us into lockdown, the door becomes a choice to open.
My doors are flung wide open, and I have been wondering about many things.
I wonder why it's so important to put a man on the moon, but it's not important enough to take care of the citizens right here on Earth.
I wonder why the rich continue to get richer and lose their souls to greed while others with less material things are so rich in spirit.
I wonder why humanity is so divided and why so many brilliant people aren't able to make a difference, while some make inroads for much-needed change. I wonder how things will change and what my role will be to make these changes happen.
I wonder why freedom is just an empty word, and the true meaning of freedom only rings for some.
I wonder why people rely on the Bible or fixate on science and stray from their natural instincts.
I wonder how long the exterior craziness can go on without another mass extinction. And I wonder if it will happen during my lifetime.
I wonder what would happen if the distribution of wealth and love were equal. If all sentient beings had enough resources and the right amount of love, how might the world be?
đđŒ Would it be boring, chaotic, and create more strife? Or would it be glorious, with more joy and happiness?
đđŒ Would we have more time to express ourselves freely?
đđŒ Would we appreciate Nature's bounty and beauty, the soil, carbon-sequestering trees, oxygen-rich oceans, rivers, and lakes? Would gratitude be plentiful for the valleys, mountains, and clouds?
đđŒ Would we enjoy Nature more, and rape and pillage less? Or continue to feed the rich while the poor people pay for their luxury? I wonderâŠ
I wonder if equal distribution of wealth and love happened. Could we be like the trees leaning with the winds, resilient like the rocks against the crashing waves? Would our eyesight improve if we looked at computer screens less and the landscape more?
I believe our mental and physical muscles would strengthen and our senses would become more in tune with the world, like a wolf's, always present and aware of our surroundings. Our sense of smell would improve if we took the time to appreciate the aromatic scents of blossoms and our taste buds would heighten each time we savor a piece of fresh fruit, a crisp apple, with juice dripping down our chins.
Ahhh, a tangerine plucked fresh from the tree. Imagine the smell, the taste; the flavor bursting as you pierce the skin and indulge in the sweet, tangy fruit. Oh, the delight of those sensations, those simple pleasures we take for granted when lost in the craziness.
If there was an equal distribution of wealth and love, enough resources and love for all of lifekind to prosper, there would be justice. Imagine if the excess wealth compounded interest for future generations and how the Earth would rebound.
If there was an equal distribution of wealth and love, we could plant more apple and tangerine trees, perhaps a garden, and store a bounty of seeds of love for our children to plant and harvest in the future. We might pay less attention to our social media likes and comments. Maybe even stop worrying about getting older and not living our best lives. I envision seeds of love for all and for Mother Earth. I see us as propagating and nurturing stewards of the land with love and happiness for all sentient beings.
We must start planting seeds of change somewhere, sometime. Why not here and now? Manifestation is powerful; good conversations shift minds, and time alone to contemplate ideas can be beautiful. I find solace and inner answers to my unending questions by relishing the quiet and beauty of Nature.
Aging doesn't have to mean growing old, and it certainly doesn't have to mean slowing down or letting your health deteriorate, leaving you behind closed doors. Age is just a number. Focus on what you can do, not how many years you've already lived. At any age, your mission, self-worth, and purpose are the elements that define your life. Remember: itâs not over until itâs over!
To live your happiest life possible at any stage of life, dedicate time to take care of yourself, such as exercising, spending time in Nature, eating well, and making time for friends, family, and co-workers! Prioritize your self-care and self-worth, and keep your dreams alive. It also means taking precious alone time to wonder and to contemplate, even if there are no answers. Never stop wondering, is key to staying happy and young.
Approach each day with wisdom and wonder, and you become ageless.
