While we don’t live in Maui, the devastation from the fires on our neighboring island touches us deeply. We reside on the Big Island, where we recently faced our own fire, sparing lives and structures but not without landscape toll. The Pacific Ocean channel stretching 36 miles separates us from the heart-wrenching scenes in historic Lahaina.

Most of Maui’s beautiful island was spared as firefighters held flames at bay and the land showed resilience. Though not physically present, our hearts are intertwined with those affected. We stand united in spirit, offering support and hope.

As Maui rises like a phoenix from the ashes, remember: even amidst destruction, the human spirit and community bonds are unbreakable. Our unity transcends boundaries and reminds us that when one part hurts, we all feel it, and together we heal.

Let our messages of hope and strength be whispers carried by wind, reaching those in need and assuring them brighter days are ahead. Our collective love transforms devastation into determination and despair into hope.
